Alzheimer’s Speaks is one of the most respected voices in the dementia care space. Host Lori La Bey has built a platform dedicated to shifting dementia care culture from crisis to comfort, and this conversation got right to the heart of it. We talked about why dementia behavior is never defiance, it is always communication, and what changes when caregivers and care professionals start seeing it that way.
Cognitive Connections
Nandita Srikumar, founder and president of Cognitive Connections, built this platform around a mission I deeply respect: raising brain health awareness for all age groups and empowering people to take charge of their cognitive wellbeing. When she reached out to invite me onto her Brain Health Expert Series, I was glad to say yes.
This conversation was a great opportunity to talk about what dementia actually does to the brain and why that understanding changes everything about how we care. We covered the realities caregivers face, why isolation is so common, and what grounded, practical support actually looks like.
