What is the CDP credential?
The Certified Dementia Practitioner credential is awarded by NCCDP to professionals who complete the authorized seminar and meet the application requirements. This seminar is that training. After both sessions, you have 30 days to submit your CDP application to NCCDP directly.
Not pursuing CDP certification? Nursing CEUs are available through InsPAC. A CEU application packet is available from the instructor on request for all other disciplines. Approval from other governing bodies is not guaranteed.
Why CDP certification matters:
Your credential signals to employers, facilities, and the families you serve that your dementia care knowledge has been formally verified. It differentiates you on a resume, supports better patient outcomes, and reflects a standard of practice most of your peers haven't reached yet.
Recognized by the Alzheimer's Association
The Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar by NCCDP is recognized by the Alzheimer's Association® for successfully incorporating the evidence-based Dementia Care Practice Recommendations in the following topic areas: Alzheimer's and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication. Providers who purchase and train their staff with Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar by NCCDP are eligible to purchase the Alzheimer's Association essentiALZ® certification.

- Identify common causes of aggressive, repetitive and sundown behavior in older adults
- Describe behaviors/care interventions that may be used to prevent, reduce or eliminate difficult care situations

- Receive certificate of attendance in seminar

DISCOUNTS
Corporate Group Discount
A corporate group, consisting of 10 or more members, qualify for a discounted rate per person on their Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) applications, if the company wishes to pay for their staff members' certifications. To receive the discounted rate, payment must be made all at once for all applicants via a company credit card/check.
Training your team here also makes your organization eligible to purchase essentiALZ® certification exams directly from the Alzheimer's Association. It's a second credential option for facilities that want to formally verify staff competency in quality dementia care.
Renewal Discounts
Certifications are good for two years. Renewal fees are at a discounted rate as long as they are still an employee of the company, and their company is paying for their renewal fees. If they are not, they will be removed from the group and required to renew at the individual renewal rate.
Association Discounts
When the seminar is given for a professional organization/association at an association meeting, event, or conference, participants are eligible to receive an Association discount.
Hosting Discounts
In exchange for a facility’s hospitality, we are pleased to offer tuition scholarship for 3 staff members to attend.
